TRAVEL NOTE

We’re happy you’re on your way to visit us!

Our part of West Virginia is a beautiful rural area, and like much of Appalachia, it is also home to active gas and coal operations. Because of this, you may occasionally encounter large trucks traveling in groups along the mountain roads near the community.

Local agencies and transport companies coordinate regularly to keep traffic flowing smoothly, and most visitors reach us without any difficulty. A little awareness simply makes the drive more comfortable for everyone.

Watch for the lead vehicle

Truck groups are preceded by a small lead vehicle showing how many trucks follow.

If you see one approaching, the easiest option is to pause briefly and allow the group to pass.

Choose safe pull-off spots

When letting trucks pass, pull over only on straight stretches of road where visibility is clear.
